Hey there, I'm Steph
Designer, Journalist, flower farmer, traveler
I’m a photographer with a foundation in journalism and a heart rooted in artistry. Telling people’s stories comes naturally to me—whether through the pen or the camera. Which is why I spent my college years studying journalism and photography. Together, they form the perfect marriage. My work blends technical training in visual storytelling with a fine art, editorial approach—capturing weddings, couples, families, and motherhood in a way that feels intentional and deeply real.
My background in journalism trained me to observe with purpose—to anticipate moments as they unfold and document them with honesty and clarity. That instinct still guides my work today. I’m not just looking for what’s beautiful—I’m looking for what’s true. The in-between moments, the subtle gestures, the emotion you didn’t realize was showing… those are the images that matter most.
My perspective was further shaped by time spent studying and living in Florence, where I was immersed in art, architecture, and a culture that reveres beauty in everyday life. There, I developed a deep appreciation for light, composition, and timeless design—elements that continue to influence my work and give it a distinctly romantic, European-inspired feel.

Timeless Storytelling Inspired by Film
I have shot around the world, and today my work is coming home to English Hills Farm in Pleasantville. I designed the land at English Hills, our estate-style flower farm to be both a working flower farm and a photography backdrop for clients. Inspired by the romance of the European countryside, the farm offers many backdrops including: an English cottage, 1930s barn, lavender field, sunflowers, wildflower field, and an English garden. The setting was designed to create a sense of quiet luxury and escape.
Clients are drawn here not just for photographs, but for the farm experience and escape. Sessions at English Hills are intentionally designed to feel unhurried and atmospheric—whether you’re celebrating a wedding, engagement, growing family, or a fleeting season of life.
As an Iowa wedding and family photographer, I specialize in natural light imagery that highlights connection, movement, and atmosphere. My approach is a balance of thoughtful direction and documentary awareness—you’ll never feel over-posed, but you’ll always be guided with intention.

Why did you name the farm English Hills?
I am deeply inspired by the style of English homes and the way they design garden rooms. Fun fact, the English River is not too far from the farm, and our lavender field is an English variety—it was just fitting.
